Volkswagen Ameo Overview

Volkswagen is back in the news again, Volkswagen’s new entrant in the compact sedan segment. The Volkswagen Ameo is the fact that it is the first German car that has been designed in India, specifically for the Indian market. In terms of looks the Ameo shares most of its design and style cues with its hatchback cousin, Polo. The front end of the car looks like a slightly enhanced version of the Polo but, the Ameo gets new headlamps, sporty front bumper, horizontal fog lamps, wide air dam and some considerable chrome detailing. 

The technical specifications, it may be incorporated with both 1.2-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engines for the buyers to select from. This may come with a choice of both manual and automatic transmission gear box options to select from. Besides all these, we can hope it to have some vital aspects that may enhance the security quotient.

Volkswagen Ameo Exterior & Interior

In terms of looks, the Ameo will follow the traditional VW design with very subtle yet elegant design. The front of the car will be very similar to that of the Polo, Strong resemblance with Polo is evident in front as Ameo features similar head lamps. The other elements it will have is a large windscreen and an updated bumper, which is likely to carry fog lamps as well. Its side profile looks almost similar to its sister cars. On feature front the car comes with best-in-class features like rain sensing wipers, cruise control, touchscreen infotainment system with Mirror link and I-pod connectivity, "Climatronic" automatic AC, cooled glove box and electronically controlled ORVM. On safety front the car comes with equipment like - ABS and dual airbags as standard feature across all variants along with rear view camera with parking sensor, lane change indicator, electronic anti-theft immobilizer and defogger. 

Cabin space is comfortable and use of top-notch quality material is in sync with rest of the Volkswagen cars.  Feature list will include some of the segment first equipment. Powering the new Volkswagen Ameo will be 1.2-litre MPI petrol and the 1.5-litre TDI diesel engines sourced from the VW Polo hatchback. With the DSG unit, the diesel unit is expected to produce a maximum power output of 103.5bhp. The engines will also come mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox.

Volkswagen Ameo Engine and Transmission Specifications

The same engine that powers the current Polo series. The Ameo petrol will get a 1.2-litre three-cylinder engine tuned to produce 74bhp and 110Nm. The diesel mill will have a four-cylinder configuration with 1.5-litre displacement producing 89bhp and 230Nm of torque. On the other hand, the company might couple both of them with a 5-speed manual transmission gear box, while a 7-speed DSG automatic transmission gear box may also be offered.
