Honda BR-V Overview

The demand for SUVs in India has been on the rise over the past few year’s thanks mainly to the introduction of small/compact SUVs.

Honda is almost done readying it’s Creta-rival, the BR-V, and is all set to drive in the small SUV in the second quarter of 2016. The BR-V will be an important product for Honda as the Japanese manufacturer would be hoping to increase its market share. Currently, none of the Honda products, apart from the City, are managing figures even close to the respective segment leaders.

The BR-V seems more of an MPV than an SUV, which raises serious questions over its success potential. Before we come up with a comprehensive 2016 Honda BR-V test drive review, here’s the review of the new small SUV from Honda. Check it out to find out why we feel that the Honda BR-V might be a failed attempt from Honda Cars India.

Honda BR-V Exterior & Interior
We haven't been able to scour out too much reliable information about the interiors. But we'll tell you what we have been able to flush out from online sources. Firstly, the cabin is probably laid out on the lines of other successes, and from the images we've scouted out, we spotted heavy influences of the Jazz and City in specific. We're expecting a spacious seven seated with enough room to comfortably occupy seven adults.

Reports suggest that the second and third row would also bear ample legroom and headroom. A Biege environment would dress the cabin, the seats, the dashboard as well as the door-sides, and we loved the opulence here. The wide dashboard seems to host slender AC vents by the corners, and this does push up the distinguished visuals of the place.

Mounted at the center would be an Infotainment system that comes along with a large Touchscreen display at the center. The buttons of the display are to be stacked around it, allowing customers to operate with ease. You could expect many conventional safety facilities, including dual airbags, a central locking system, an engine immobilizer, a warning for open doors and unbuckled seatbelts, and many others.

Honda BR-V Engine and Transmission Specifications

Under the hood will be the same set of engines as the Honda City – a 1.5 liter i-VTEC petrol which produces 120 PS of peak power and 145 Nm of peak torque and a 1.5 liter i-DTEC diesel producing 100 PS of peak power and 200 Nm of peak torque. Transmission duties will be handled by a 6-speed manual or a CVT. The latter will only be available mated to the petrol motor. BR-V will feature a 1.5 liter i-VTEC petrol engine for the gasoline variants and a 1.5 litre i-DTEC diesel power plant for the diesel trims. The petrol engine which currently powers other Honda vehicles also is good for maximum power of 120 Hp at 6600 RPM along with peak torque of 145 Nm at 4600 RPM.
